Old Town Newhall welcomed two new honorees to the Walk of Western Stars during a special unveiling ceremony hosted by the city of Santa Clarita on Thursday, April 16.

The ceremony took place along Main Street in Old Town Newhall and featured remarks from Santa Clarita City Councilmembers and decorated stuntman Billy Burton before the official unveiling of bronze stars honoring Gary Combs and The Happy Family.

The Happy Family — Don, Edith, Clifford, Marguerite, Bonnie, Sean, Ryan Happy and Jimmy Hock — are widely recognized throughout the film industry as accomplished actors, stuntmen and stuntwomen. Their work spans generations of Western storytelling, from classic productions such as “Rawhide” and “Gunsmoke” to more recent films and television series, including “Django Unchained” and “1923.”

Gary Combs was also honored for his contributions to the Western genre as a stuntman and stunt actor, with notable work in productions including “Gunsmoke,” “Planet of the Apes,” and “Star Trek,” which filmed scenes at the iconic Vasquez Rocks. Santa Clarita continues to serve as one of the most filmed regions in Los Angeles County, known for its versatility and enduring Western landscape.

The ceremony celebrated the continued legacy of the Walk of Western Stars, which has honored influential figures in Western film, television and radio since 1981. Located along Main Street in the historic Old Town Newhall district, the Walk recognizes actors, directors and other film professionals whose work has helped shape and preserve America’s Western heritage.
