Hart Park highlights its adorable Critter Fair and just you wait until you see the amazing animals they brought in with them.

More from This Week’s Guest Lineup
Starting off this week’s episode, show hosts Carrie Lujan and Dave Caldwell discuss the exciting lineup ahead. Dave highlights the incredible season put on by The Master’s University Men’s Volleyball team, which capped off an unbelievable year by bringing home the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) national title — the first men’s team in school history to win a national championship. Carrie also shares her experience at FestAbility, an inclusive and inspiring event that celebrates our disability community and their families.

The hosts then chat with Shannon Kliewer, a Lactation Program Coordinator for Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital, who raises awareness about a life-saving program that uses donor breast milk to treat babies with Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC), a serious intestinal disease that primarily affects premature infants. NEC is one of the leading causes of death in neonatal care units. The segment also highlights the crucial role milk banks play in collecting, screening, storing, processing, and distributing donor milk.

Next, we sit down with Casey Miller, Marketing Chair for ARTree Community Arts Center, who gives us a sneak preview of the many fun and creative programs being offered during the summer season, including an art show featuring original works from local students and spotlighting the Michael Powell Memorial Scholarship, which is open to Santa Clarita residents 13 years of age and up. The scholarship honors beloved and longtime ARTree instructor Michael Powell. The deadline to apply is Monday, May 19, 2025.

Following that, Phil Lantis from the City of Santa Clarita chats with us about the return of the Newhallywood Silent Film Festival and the fascinating role the Santa Clarita Valley has played in cinema history. This year, the festival will honor the works of legendary film icons Lon Chaney and Sergei Eisenstein.

Finally, Rachael Koumalainen, Animal Keeper for William S. Hart Park, gives us a fun and adorable look at this year’s Critter Fair, a family-friendly event featuring pet adoptions and the barnyard animals who call the park home. The event offers the community a wonderful opportunity to learn about and meet more than 70 animals — including the three amazing critters Rachael brought with her!
