The Castaic Area Town Council has agreed to accept funds from Chiquita Canyon Landfill officials for the community, in exchange for their support of a landfill expansion in Val Verde.

Kimberly Balljet, a third grade teacher at Northlake Hills Elementary, was recently named one of the top teachers in the County.

The California Department of Motor vehicles plans to hire more staff, increase training and open new temporary field offices to prepare for a rush of drivers license applications at the start of the new year.

Gov. Jerry Brown signed a bill by Senator Fran Pavley Friday to put a life-saving antidote into the hands of first responders to prevent drug overdose deaths.

Friday night the Canyon football team will look to even its record against Burbank at Harry Welch Stadium in the Nissan of Valencia game of the week…which will be simulcast on the radio and TV.
