The California Grizzly once roamed freely throughout the state. They were greatly feared by the native Californians, and loathed by ranchers trying to protect their livestock. Yet the connection between the grizzly and the people of California is so strong that the California flag displays a grizzly prominently.

Andrew Lasken, a docent/naturalist at Placerita Canyon, tells the history of the magnificent animal.
