Firefighters Battle ‘Lake Fire’ Blaze in Castaic

June 17, 9 p.m.

Los Angeles County Fire Public Information officials are reporting the Lake Fire has burned 1,000 acres with 10 percent containment. Two outbuildings where destroyed by fire.

June 17, 6:20 p.m.

L.A. County fire officials are reporting the Lake Fire has reached 550 acres.

Shortly before 6:00 p.m., the L.A. County Fire PIO reported via Twitter that the blaze near Castaic Lake has reached 550 acres.

June 17, 4:56 p.m.

Los Angeles County Firefighters are responding to a brush fire that has grown to 500 acres near Castaic Lake and reported to be at zero percent containment.

The fire, which has been dubbed the “Lake Fire,” is reported to be at zero percent containment as of 4:09 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Public Information Officer Twitter.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m., LACo Fire PIO reported that they were requesting more fire personnel and are in “unified command” with the Angeles National Forest fire response team.

There are no structures reported to be threatened by the blaze.

The fire was reported shortly after 2:00 p.m.

There is no further information available at this time. Information will be updated as it is released and confirmed by fire officials.
