CHP Officer Shares Tips for Safe Driving this Winter

Between inclement weather, freezing temperatures, gatherings and more, driving during the Winter months requires extra precautions to help keep you and other drivers safe. Hear some expert tips from California Highway Patrol Officer Josh Greengard that will help ensure you, your family, and fellow drivers hit the roadways safely this season on this segment from SCVTV’s Community Corner.

Of note, Officer Greengard mentions that slowing down when inclement weather hits is one of the first steps drivers can take to be safe: whether it’s rainy, foggy, or snowing, braking distance shortens, which can often lead to collisions.

Additionally, with holidays and gatherings in full swing, CHP will enact their Maximum Enforcement Periods to help keep roadways as safe as possible. Holiday travel often brings increased crashes and alcohol-related incidents on the roadways and the hope is for CHP to help prevent reckless driving and help motorists as much as possible.
