Finding Art Santa Clarita | KLAWS Celebrates the Holidays At Castaic Animal Shelter with ‘Barking for Books’
|
Castaic Union School District, West Ranch High School, and Los Angeles County Animal Care partnered to enrich the lives of local students and shelter dogs. Students from Castaic Middle School’s Kids Loving Animals Within Shelters club (KLAWS) read to dogs and collected animal supplies at the Castaic Animal Shelter for the ‘Barking for Books Pet Supply Drive and Reading Session’ Students from the KLAWS club collected items to donate to the shelter like blankets, dog food, toys, and newspapers while they read their favorite books to the dogs awaiting adoption. Reading aloud to the dogs helps the students become more confident in their reading skills and gives the dogs human interaction they normally wouldn’t receive in the shelter. The KLAWS club aims to teach students the art of compassion and the power of positivity towards animals. (c) 2018 SCVTV
