Finding Art Santa Clarita | Call For Entries: ‘Creative Comforts’ Gallery Exhibit
|
Calling all artists: showcase your artistic take on your favorite comfort foods in the upcoming gallery exhibit “Creative Comforts”, which will be shown at the First Floor Gallery at Santa Clarita City Hall; the deadline to submit your work is February 21, 2021. Whether hamburgers, mac & cheese, cornbread, your grandma’s cookies, or simply your favorite snack, showcase your favorite comfort foods in any art form that can be mounted to a wall; this includes but is not limited to paintings, drawings, printmaking, photography, and textiles. Artists are also welcome to include the recipe of their comfort food to be shown with their work. Additionally, the use of real food is encouraged, but not required. The show will be up from March 12 to May 14, 2021 in the First Floor Gallery at Santa Clarita City Hall. There will also be a virtual gallery created alongside the physical show. The gallery is part of the “One Story, One City” program from the Santa Clarita Public Library, which promotes reading and encourages discussion among Santa Clarita residents through the celebration of one story during the month of March. This year’s book selection is “Eat Joy: Stories & Comfort Food from 31 Celebrated Writers,” edited by Natalie Eve Garrett, which features an emotional collection of essays from celebrated writers, accompanied by recipes and vibrant illustrations. Each shared story delves into the comfort that food can bring us when we are navigating dark or difficult times in our lives.
