Western Stardust recently debuted to the public allowing them to interact with the western stars in Santa Clarita. This public augmented reality experience invites community members and visitors to explore the connection between local history and the broader universe. By using a mobile device to scan designated stars embedded in the pavement, participants can activate a visual display of golden stardust. This feature serves as both a tribute to the region’s Gold Rush history and a reflection on the idea that we are all made of stardust. Participants may also contribute their photos to a digital gallery that will be featured on the Western Star Dust website. The artwork for this augmented reality Walk of Western Stars experience was created by Victoria Vesna, with technical development support from Yichen Pan.
