Step Inside ‘The Dreams of the Golden Oak’ at Old Orchard Park

The “Dreams of the Golden Oak” is a new interactive public art sculpture at the recently reopened Old Orchard Park, inviting visitors to step inside, sit, and experience art from within.

Created by artist Gail Christofferson, the piece is inspired by the local story of Francisco Lopez, who in 1842 dreamed of finding gold while resting under a large oak tree. When he awoke and gathered wild onions, he discovered real gold attached to their roots. That oak later became known as The Oak of the Golden Dreams.

The sculpture sits near the park entrance and features a golden exterior that shines in the sunlight and a glass mosaic interior that fills the space with colorful, filtered light. A built-in bench provides a place for visitors to pause and reflect, blending function and art within the park’s landscape.

Old Orchard Park and the artwork both celebrated their grand opening on Sept. 30, 2025. The park and sculpture are located at 25023 Ave Rotella, Santa Clarita, CA 91355
